Why is Childhood Cancer Careline needed in our communities?

Imagine waking up one day and being told your child has cancer. Yearly, more than 350 families in the Puget Sound area receive this news and their world is turned upside down.

Most families are treated at Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Seattle, Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma and Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, U.W medical centers, and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.

Our History
Founded in 2001, the organization was originally known as Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Puget Sound. In December of 2005, the Board of Directors wanted the vision and mission to focus more on local giving programs. We changed our name to Childhood Cancer Careline, and are no longer affiliated with National Candlelighters. Our foundation still has the same 501(c)3 tax ID #.

Over the past several years, with fundraising, sponsorships, and corporate and private donations, we raised over $600,000.00 to help support local childhood cancer families through our programs. We function as an all-volunteer foundation, and provide programs at no charge to families,  

Our Board Members are honored to be part of a foundation that is focused on cancer patients and their families. To support children and their parents while going through a traumatic life experience is humanitarian. We strongly believe in supporting families through our programs that have been affected and touched with children diagnosed with cancer.
